The name Cor-ten stands for
– COR-rosion resistance (high resistance to corrosion)
– TEN-sile strength (high mechanical resistance).
As time passes, the film of cor-ten vases changes shade, taking on a brown colour. Rusting, in fact, for cor-ten steel, is part of a very specific oxidation process. When the surface that covers the cor-ten planters is scratched, this particular steel consequently generates a new protective film.
